High Batts is currently closed for members and for Group visits because of the Covid-19 emergency and in line with the Government advice. We will re-open as soon as it is possible and safe to do so.
Yorkshire Naturalists’ Union visit

We were delighted to host a field excursion from the Yorkshire Naturalists’ Union in mid-July 2019. The day was dedicated to surveying the species found on the Reserve and on Pennycroft, an exercise which has added greatly to our records.
A wonderful year for insects

(Originally posted summer 2018). The hot summer has obviously been good for insects. The Reserve (and Pennycroft, which we are monitoring for the In at the Start project) has been alive with grasshoppers, butterflies and dragonflies. The pictures above show
Members’ Muck-in
Despite the dismal weather, ten members turned out to do some bracken-bashing, and they seemed to enjoy it. As you can see, there was plenty of bracken to go at.
